We arrived late with two very tired grandchildren. Friendly staff at reception soon sorted out bedding for children as room had only been made up for two. However, advertised double sofa bed was only queen size and duvet was single, which meant a restless night for children and therefore the adults. Shower was powerful but cubicle tiling very much in need of attention and cleaning. The drainage from the shower leaked profusely onto the shower room floor and we used towels to mop it up. There didn't appear to be any heating in the room or shower room as both radiators were cold even though we tried to turn them up. Room decoration ok but in need of refurb. Bedroom furniture in good order and bedding and towels clean. Ample supply of toiletries and iron, ironing board and hairdryer plus the usual tea and coffee facilities. Breakfast choice ok but toaster was faulty and only toasted on one side, one coffee machine was broken. Cereal dispensers chewed up the cereal rather than dispensing it. Only one choice of cheap thin white bread for toast... No brown bread. Children loved the mini pastries. Cheese looked a bit dried up in the fridge but we all managed to find enough to eat for breakfast and the staff kept replenishing supplies. Outside the hotel is run down, and it is now the jupiter not the mercure hotel. So all in all, there were more bad points than good, but there were some positives and maybe we were just unlucky. We would not stay there again.
