Travellers Solo Kind of trip Business

Great location. I was in london on business in the holborn area and staying at the royal national meant i could actually walk there. In the evening i found places to dine in the area, but as it wasn't too far from covent garden and piccadilly circus i also had my dinner there a couple of nights and didn't take long to get back to the hotel afterwards.

The hotel is very big and you definitely don't get the personal treatment you might at smaller ones, but if you prioritise location and price over this, it's a good option.

    The best thing

    Location.

    The worst thing

    A bit impersonal.

Travellers Couple Kind of trip Short break

We were a bit sceptical because all the other hotels in this area – or anywhere in central london for that matter – are a lot more expensive, but we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel itself is certainly nothing fancy, but considering its location and price, it was a real find, particularly as all we did there was sleep, shower and have breakfast. It's just a few minutes walk from the british museum. As we enjoy walking, we actually hardly used public transport at all. Our room was clean and adequate, as were breakfasts. For an extra £5 you can upgrade to an english breakfast, but we found the continental one to be enough to start off the day. Would definitely recommend it if you're looking for great location but don't want to pay london prices.

    The best thing

It was in a good location for getting around althought the nearest tube staion had only a lift and was rather crowded at times.

    The worst thing

It was far too big for our liking and the breakfast was terrible. You couldn't find a place to sit, had to queue up because there were so many people and had to pay a supplement of 5 pounds for a cooked breakfast, which wasn't that great either.
