  • Ávila is a jewel

Ávila is a jewel. Its medieval walls, Gothic cathedral, and cobbled streets make it a charming destination. The city has a special charm and is perfect for getting lost and discovering its history and tradition. A must on any trip through Castile and León!

  • Very pleasant and quiet

Very pleasant and quiet. The monumental old town is very beautiful. Just the same issue as in other places: many, too many, monuments are not open.

  • Destination near Madrid for the weekend

Without a doubt, it is one of the best destinations near Madrid for a relaxing weekend. The city can be seen in two days, and I highly recommend paying to see the wall and walk around it, and also to see it from outside. The food in the city is amazing, especially the bakeries, although it is true that the food on the street parallel to the wall is quite expensive. Inside the wall area, there is a hotel with a restaurant that had a daily menu for €16, and everything was delicious. Another point to consider is that all the tourist attractions are in the same area, so it's easy to see them. For this reason, it's a good idea to look for a hotel, hostel, or nearby accommodation, as if you go on the weekend, the bus runs less frequently and it will be much harder to get there.

  • Impressive historical city

Impressive historical city. Its wall is something worth seeing and learning about its origin and evolution. Its wonderful gastronomy is what helps to combat the cold.

  • The walls of Ávila

The walls of Ávila are a unique architectural treasure. Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, they are considered the most complete in Europe. It is the birthplace of Saint Teresa (hence the delicious yemas de Santa Teresa...). Highlights include the Cathedral of the Savior, considered the first Gothic cathedral in Spain, the Basilica of San Vicente, and the Royal Monastery of Santo Tomás, which has three cloisters. Its old town preserves an architectural ensemble that allows visitors to literally travel in time, with Romanesque, Gothic churches and Renaissance palaces.

  • A city full of charm

A city full of charm and history. Churches, cathedral, bridges, gates, squares, and towers make Ávila a dream place to enjoy and experience all its legends. Particularly, the story of Saint Teresa of Ávila has captivated me, and to this day, I am reading more about the history of this important and beloved character in the city.
