Playa Blanca

The clean, modern holiday resort of Playa Blanca is the most southern on the beautiful Spanish island of Lanzarote, and finding hotels in Playa Blanca to suit your preferences has never been easier. Many people enjoy the sea views that lots of the Playa Blanca hotels offer, while others prefer to rent an apartment for their break.

The 9 km long curved bay is one of the main attractions, and the bay itself is broken up into three separate areas. These are PLaya Blanca, Playa Dorada and Playa Flamingo and each provides a safe, sheltered beach for families with children. The smallest beach is Playa Blanca, and though it is a little rocky in areas, it's a great family beach with lifeguards and children's Canarian wrestling each evening. It's easy to reach the beaches from your Playa Blanca hotel, while those with an apartment in Playa Blanca will be able come and go as they please. A good choice if you prefer an apartment in Lanzarote is the 4 star Jardines del Sol which has its own pool and is close to the sea and just a 20 minute walk to the centre of Playa Blanca.

Those who enjoy a touch of luxury will appreciate a 5 star hotel in Playa Blanca with lots of facilities. One of the top Lanzarote choices is the 5 star Princess Vaiza Suite Hotel which has lots of features to appeal to all ages, including superb swimming pools, evening entertainment and a designated children's play area and club. The Princess Vaiza is also a wonderful solution if you're looking for a spa break and has its own Thalasso and Spa which is also open to non residents. The 'technogym' is a big attraction if you're into fitness, and the children's football school in August is very popular.

The Castillo de Papagayo is another good 5 star hotel, while those who prefer an apartment in Lanzarote and want good value might enjoy the Aparthotel Cay Beach Sun. If your apartment is also close to the beach, a 15 minute walk along the promenade will take you to the popular Marina Rubicon where the markets on Wednesday and Saturday mornings are a big draw. Buy everything from local arts and crafts to wine, and be sure to venture a little further along to the headland at Punta del Aquila, where you can see the Castillo de las Coloradas, a watchtower that was built between 1741 and 1744.

For those on a budget the 3 star THB Hotel Sun Royal is an excellent choice for short or longer stays in Lanzarote. Those on business may like the Nautilus Lanzarote which is just a 5-10 minute drive from the airport. With an apartment or hotel to suit visitors of all ages, whether family groups, couples or business travellers there is certain to be one in Playa Blanca which is just right for you.
