Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria is a destination rich in history and culture. Various stories surround its past, many of them based on myth and legend. Some imagined it to be the lost city of Atlantis, while others linked it to the magical Fortunate Islands. The Templo Ecumenico de San Salvador is a church and religious site in Playa del Inglés, welcoming Christians from all denominations. Gran Canaria's earliest inhabitants were the Guanches. These people are said to have been Berbers, originating from North Africa and were cave dwellers. The Barranco de Guayadeque is the historical site of the Guanches caves. This ancient settlement is a must see. The two museums located here shouldn't be missed.
