Bilbao is of course home to the Bilbao Guggenheim, a futuristic silver building housing one of the finest museums of modern art in Europe. Take a stroll along the picturesque riverside to enjoy a different aspect of the city, or visit Parque Doña Casilda de Iturrizar where the glorious fountain is set to music. Be sure to spend some time in the Old Town, particularly around the Cathedral and the Plaza Nueva and don't forget to try the pinchos, every cafe and bar has these tasty sample plates and they're a fantastic way to try lots of different local delicacies.

If you like to relax in a whirlpool or jacuzzi after a busy day exploring the attractions of the city, then 4 star Hotel Spa Husa Jardines de Albia is the one for you. However, if you like to take a different approach the Hotel Shirimiri, also known as the 'sheep hotel' is a quirky little hotel in the Old Town. The 5 star Melia Bilbao is a wonderful choice for anyone who likes their hotel to be the height of sophistication and luxury, while the 3 star Tryp Arena Hotel is a good mid priced chain hotel. If you'd like to really live like a local, why not rent your own apartment, either directly from the owners or online?

Trip to Bilbao
It seemed to me like a very nice city. The cleanliness of the streets and the whole city, and the good communications to get anywhere. I loved everything. My trip was from Madrid to Bilbao to attend Café Quijano's concert on Sunday. For that reason, I chose that hotel because of its proximity to the venue, and it seemed wonderful to me.

A Weekend in Bilbao
Bilbao is small but very beautiful and you can perfectly see it in a weekend, everything is close. What we also liked a lot is the food and sweets. The old town is a must-visit, as is the Guggenheim Museum. You also have to take the funicular and see the views of the entire city, they are very beautiful.

Bilbao gets better with the years
Bilbao is one of those cities that gets better with the years. If on previous trips, our reason for travel was another visit to the Guggenheim or the Museum of Fine Arts, this time it was time to go to the theater and admire (inside and out) the magnificent Arriaga theater. Additionally, it's worth continuing to discover places like the café bar Abando (excellent breakfasts and pintxos), the beautiful Albia gardens, and take a stroll, taking advantage of winter sales, through the excellent shops in the center, where it’s always possible to find something interesting.

Bilbao is worth it
Bilbao is worth it. Super accessible city, on foot, by metro, by tram. Very well connected with other towns and beaches. Full of bars, with many pintxos, in various areas of the city and with a lot of atmosphere in the street despite the cold or rain.

Good place for walking
Very good for walking, culture and leisure are well represented. The Old Town is spectacular for bar-hopping, but you need to prepare money.
