What to see or do in and around Cala d'Or

  • Cala d'Or (Isla de Mallorca)

Honestly during our 2 weeks stay we went only once to Cala d'or beach (Cala Gran), for us all of the

We were in Mallorca for the first time, but not the last. (2 weeks) Our accommodation was in Cala d'or, and we visited the following places several times with a rented car from there: Es Trenc beach (approx. 40 minutes by car): nature reserve, amazing Caribbean atmosphere, azure horizon, snow-white sand (no palm trees:) toilet, washroom and a bufet-van close to the parking lot (parking €7/day), the beach is several kilometers long, half of it heavily naturalist, nudist :) There are no sunbeds or umbrellas. Sa Coma (approx. 30 minutes by car): real beach-style, pedestrian street and a million parking lots (free) on the many km long beach, which are connected to the nearby hotels, everywhere there are sunbeds and umbrellas (with safe) approx. 15 euros/day (2 beds, 1 umbrella),shops, restaurants, drink and fruit selling by locals on the beach. Azure water, sandy sea many palm trees Alcudia/ Platja de Muro (about 50 minutes by car) A windier, more wavy sea, the edge of a nature reserve, so there are sunbeds (not in bulk) but you can already see hotels, restaurants and shops. Great atmosphere, no big crowds. You can park in many places, also for free. It is also worth visiting the capital Palma, where we saw the main sights with a free walking tour, and the aquarium next to Palma proved to be a very good decision. The small town of Soller and the port of Soller, where we went with the famous wooden tram, as well as just going for a drive, because you see miracles everywhere!

    Lovely Cala d’Or

I highly recommend visiting Cala d’Or if you like going somewhere vivid. There are plenty of restaurants and bars with different kinds of food (tapas, paella, meat, fish, Italian, Thai, sushi, ...). In general you do see more families/couples in Cala d’Or and not so many young people.Reservations are usually not necessary but do keep in mind that it gets more crowded around 8 pm. I highly recommend restaurant “La Bodega” for some great tapas and sangria. You will also find some typical souvenir shops and other stores so it’s also a nice place to do some shopping.Cala d’Or has two popular beaches: Cala d’Or and Cala Gran. Keep in mind that it can get quite busy during the day. At Cala Gran it is possible to rent sunbeds (€17,50 for two sunbeds and a parasol) but you should come before 10 am otherwise they will all be occupied. The sea is great with super clear water!
