Panticosa
In the Aragon region of northern Spain, in the picturesque Tena Valley of the Pyrenees, can be found the charming tourist village of Panticosa. Surrounded by deep blue lakes and soaring mountains with peaks higher than 3,000 metres, Panticosa is an ideal location for mountain sports. First class alpine and cross country skiing is carried on here. Nestled on the course of the Caldares river, Panticosa has steep, narrow streets lined with traditional stone-built houses and a Romanesque church dating from the 13th century. Panticosa is also renowned for its spa, and there are still the venerable old luxury hotels, casinos and promenades of what was once the holiday destination of the royal family.
Due to its well established tourist resort status, this delightful village in the Pyrenees has plenty of hotel and apartment accommodation to offer. The Hotel Casda Morlans is a friendly and comfortable two star which is family run and ideal for hiking holidays. The Hotel Continental is a four star and your apartment there will set you close to the Pyrenees National Park. An apartment in the Hotel Vicente at the top of the village will command wonderful views of the Pyrenees. From your apartment in the Gran Hotel you will have access to a games room, a health club and a casino. In the heart of the resort, the three star Hotel Sabocos offers beautiful gardens, an à la carte restaurant, a games and TV room and even a library.
At the foot of the village you can catch a gondola up to the ski resort further up the mountain. In July and August the gondola is available for walkers, and from the topmost station some superb walks with stunning views over the valley can be accessed, plus a café where you can relax with a drink. Panticosa has an outdoor pool which is open during the months of July and August and an indoor pool which is available throughout most of the rest of the year. The indoor pool complex boasts a sauna and a steam room which are ideal for soothing those tired muscles after a hectic day on the slopes.

Charm in the hotel surroundings
The surroundings of the hotel are very beautiful, they even have a certain charm with some old abandoned buildings that give the area a certain mystery. In the village of Panticosa, you have many options for restaurants, bars, and leisure activities.

A charming village
A charming village. The village of Panticosa (not to be confused with the spa of the same name) is a small town in the Tena Valley, between the Tendeñera and Partacúa mountain ranges, and next to the French Pyrenees, with the famous peaks of Midi d'Ossau and Balaitús. There are many excursions to choose from, ranging from the most relaxing to alpine ones, all very well signposted. From the village itself, you can visit in a few hours and with little difficulty the Ripera Valley, the Lanuza and Búbal reservoirs, the small village of Pueyo de Jaca, etc. There are also nearby peaks for the more adventurous, such as Peña Telera or Pico Tendenera. The cable car of the Panticosa ski slopes also operates in summer and brings us closer to some of these peaks, as does a charming 'little train' that runs through the Ripera Valley. The hotel and gastronomic offer is abundant and varied, with prices for all budgets. Highlights: the restaurant A Vieja Mina and the Panticosa ice cream shop, with handmade and delicious ice creams. The village atmosphere is lively during the day and peaceful at night.
