Nestled partway between the sea and the mountains in beautiful Andalusia in south-western Spain, Jerez de la Frontera is a delightfully small city with the ambience, friendliness and warmth of a village. The climate is subtropical Mediterranean with warm, dry summers. The city is famed as a centre for the wine industry, and also flamenco and horses. A Renaissance era monastery which is now a national monument is also well worth a visit. The Archaeological Museum has some fine Roman and Corinthian artefacts. Finally, no visit to Jerez de la Frontera would be complete without a visit to the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art, where you can watch the world famous Andalusian dancing horses perform.
