Madeira is a dreamy place, especially when the cold falls over the rest of Europe. It offers dreamy landscapes, is steeped in history, welcomes tourists with excellent food and fine wines.

Ti Laura and Pica da Atalia are very nice restaurants for dinner. Ti Laura is more like a bistro, but the atmosphere is very nice. In both location are many local people.

    Funchal

The town is very quaint and the Monte gardens are spectacular. Coming down the steep hill in a basket is so much fun - plus we went to a music concert at the English Church which was really enjoyable. There is so much to see in Madeira - we went in 2 trips one to the East side, which was more coastal and one to the West which was full of valleys and mountains. Both were exceptional and we saw loads of interesting scenery. The coastline is spectacular and the roads are very steep and winding. There is so much to see, I would recommend trips so you can enjoy the scenery without the stress of driving especially when its busy. The shopping is fabulous too- many things are cheaper than in the UK.

Funchal was more than I expected! A European city, full of events, smiling people, and exotic vibes. The architecture was really inspiring, making it an amazing holiday destination.

    Beautiful City, Plenty To Do

Only a small city, but the perfect mix of touristy and authentic. The city itself is absolutely beautiful. The architecture is amazing, and the streets are incredibly clean. The dolphin trips are a must! I have been on numerous dolphin trips and have never seen them, we saw them within 30 minutes, and it is one of the most spectacular things weve ever seen! The city from the boat is a beautiful sight.

    Flower Island

I definitely recommend visiting Monte Palace, we went with cable car to Monte Palace, then another cable car to Botanical Gardens, back with cable car, and then we tried woven sleigh ride, it was memorable and fun, definitely recommend! And then just downhill walk to Funchal. Visited Porto Moniz with natural pools. Worth renting a car for a couple of days as we did and travelled the island. Visited 3D Fun Museum, it was our first time in illusion place so really enjoyed it too. Visit waterfall on the road also
