Recommended for a weekend
Absolutely recommended destination for a leisure weekend. Siena retains the magic of a still-living medieval city, where you can get lost wandering the streets of the center discovering places and views of great beauty. The only negative note, if you will, is the large influx of tourists during the holidays, which forces you to book the main attractions in advance and possibly wait in line for entry. Despite this, I think it is a wonderful destination and I also recommend a tour of the surrounding countryside, which hides places full of charm (this weekend we visited Sant'Antimo and Pienza).

Beautiful medieval city. One of the most beautiful cities we have known, perfectly preserved medieval buildings, palaces, and art on every corner. The duomo is one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the world, it has nothing to envy to the duomo of Florence although in smaller dimensions. The slopes are numerous so it's advisable to be a bit fit to walk as outside the main monuments there are many beautiful corners to discover. The pasta dishes are excellent, the pizzas not so much, they seem more geared towards tourism, you should also try the local cold cuts. In the market square, there is a good restaurant (trattoria Papel) with many tables outside and lots of customers, where you eat very well at a price adjusted to quality.
