Val Thorens

The highest ski resort in Europe at 2,300 metres, Val Thorens has a towering reputation. Situated in the Tarentaise Valley region of the French Alps, the resort is part of the Three Valleys linked ski area, which has around 600 kilometres of piste. There are 32 lifts, including cable cars, drag lifts and chairlifts to take you to top notch skiable peaks such as the 3,220 metre Pointe du Bouchet. Après-ski activities include some excellent restaurants and a lively nightlife with live bands, karaoke and DJs. Should you feel like a break from skiing there is the Ice Circuit toboggan run to enjoy, as well as snow shoe walking, mountain biking and ice skating. Also in Val Thorens there is a large sports centre with a children's fun park.

As a world class resort in the spectacular French Alps, Val Thorens has many fine hotels to choose from. Once a small mountain village, it has been extensively developed since the 60s, but always in keeping with the Alpine ambience of the region. An apartment in the adults only Club Med Val Thorens would allow you access to a fitness and weights room and a great après-ski social scene with plenty of entertainment. Refurbished in 2012, the contemporary Hotel Tango has been popular for over fifty years and boasts an international cuisine restaurant and apartments commanding magnificent views of the Alps. It also has the famous Bar Tango, a superb place to relax after an exhausting day on the slopes. The four star Le Val Thorens Hotel offers a spa, sauna, steam room and indoor heated swimming pool. Beauty treatments and massages are available. There are two restaurants and the apartments here have contemporary wood furniture and free WiFi. The Hotel des 3 Vallees is family run, with all the attention to detail that implies. It has a sauna, restaurant and en suite rooms and studio apartments, many with a balcony. The Val Chaviere Hotel offers apartments with stunning Alps views and a tranquil location close to shops, restaurants and the sports centre, plus direct access to the slopes.
