Fabulous location right on the Cliff face, very chill and homely feeling to the place as well as lots of old world character. My only criticism is the orange juice and coffee at breakfast could be improved but the view from the breakfast terracysure did make up for it.

Pedro,
Ribeira Brava (Madeira)
Cute and quiet
Its a very cute and quiet town with a narrow but useful selection of eating options, a small museum and great views of the mountains and sea. Busses go directly to the center from Funchal for just 3-5 euros. Its good for families, people interested in hiking, kayaking and quiet times. Food is cheap - as low as 5 euros dish of the day nearby. Dont expect lots of action and party - its a place for relaxing :)

Madeira is a dreamy place, especially when the cold falls over the rest of Europe. It offers dreamy landscapes, is steeped in history, welcomes tourists with excellent food and fine wines.

Nice little seaside escape
Wonderful little town with ample sights, restaurants and lovely people. The lava baths are great and a unique and safe way to enjoy the sea. Althought at the far end of the island, a worthy spot to launch great day trips.

Machico
The town is by the sea and not far from the airport, so is a good location to stay before flying out of the airport. There is a restaurant nearby which is good for food called O Secreta which was very good value. There was also a good gelato place for ice cream called Gelati Machico. The town itself is a cute little town with cobbled streets and many restaurants and cafés.
Hannah Weeg,
Porto Moniz (Madeira)
Porto Moniz is lovely especially in the early mornings and evening after many of the day tours have left.

Porto Moniz (Madeira)
Lovely
Porto Moniz is most authentic during the earlier mornings and evenings after the day tours leave. Regardless, even when the tours are about, the food is very good and the natural pools are stunning.
Martin,
Funchal (Madeira)
Ti Laura and Pica da Atalia are very nice restaurants for dinner. Ti Laura is more like a bistro, but the atmosphere is very nice. In both location are many local people.
