Travellers Family Kind of trip Holiday Stay 9 days
We were on the fence on booking here initially, mainly because it’s location. But we needn’t have worried at all. This resort is just fabulous. It is ideal for young families! the fact you have access to all 4 areas of the resort makes it a holiday in itself. And i do advise checking all areas as my sister stayed here and didn’t even see half of what we saw.
We stayed in the aparthotel. But you can access the prestige, the village and the alto de colino across the road. There are some beautiful walks around the village that face the beach just stunning. If you have a buggy, like us, we access the santa elulia beach by walking past martins restaurant and taking a left turn there (10mins walk). There are no steps. It’s worth a little visit, lovely private beach.
If i had to choose two bad things it would be the decor is a little dated but you get over that fairly quickly. The entertainment was a little bit hit and miss, however we put that down to it being so late in the season (late september) / post covid availability of entertainers. Neither of this mattered in the greater scheme of things.
The water parks are fantastic for kids - one in aparthotel and one in alto. The breakfast buffet is excellent. The view in aparthotel is gorgeous, in the garden. The selection is slightly better in alto, as it’s a much bigger restaurant. But the beauty is you can access it all.
We had a huge apartment. Massive balcony with sun loungers and table and chairs that also got full sun all day. Ideal with a 14 month old during nap time. We could still hear and see the pool too.
The grounds are kept pristine. Every day i was fascinated watching the staff cleaning and gardening. It was lovely to watch. They run a tight ship!!
Staff are excellent. All so kind and helpful. Excellent with children. All so engaging with them. I should also note, this place was still so busy the last day of our holiday 22nd sept. We go away at the same every year and it’s usually very quiet at the end of our holiday. This is clearly a testiment to the hotel guys running the show. People always come back to the hotel. The breakfast restaurant was full every morning!!
Top tip, check out a little town called olhos d’agua close by. It’s a lovely little fishing village. We also got an uber to vilamoura for the night which was nice to see. Portobellos and martins are gorgeous for dinner too.
All in all, we would definitely return!! thank you!!.

Very good; will be coming back!
Pros: spacious apartments. Lovely apartment village. Amasing facilities. Great views. Access to the beach. Free parking by the apartments. Good breakfast. Dinner/halfboard: though not a lot of dishes, good quality.
Cons: none.

In general our stay at the alfagar ii was satisfactory. There are a few areas in our opinion where things could most certainly be looked at.
Namely we purchased half board and during our first meal we were informed that drinks were not included and must be paid for. There was no mention of this during booking.
Secondly the food from a 4 star establishment was certainly not up to standard. The selection was poor, food kept warm but certainly not hot.
Desserts lacked creativity and were full of sugar.
Staff however in the buffet restaurant were fine. They must work within the limits of their environs so they cannot be blamed but i am sure they witness a lot of wasted food and could be your link to communicating feedback from customers / guests regarding the food areas which do need attention.

Was schlechtes soll ich schreiben...
